Partnering with our suppliers

Technogym has a large supply chain of more than 1,000 suppliers. Some 86% of these are based in Italy and the majority of the rest are in Europe. They are, on average, much smaller companies than Technogym and have been less exposed to the growing demands of Environmental, Social and Governance regulations and reporting. In order to support their capabilities in this area, Technogym has prepared a code of conduct as well as some specific assessments aimed at helping them make their operations more sustainable.

Supplier selection

Supplier selection is a key process in achieving the Group's goals of excellence. The process consists of two distinct quality assessment phases:

  • Consideration of the prospective client’s financial stability, type of product supplied, technologies they have available and research and development capabilities.
  • On-site assessment of quality, environmental impacts, occupational safety and respect for human rights.

In the event of passing the selection process, the new supplier signs Technogym’s General Conditions of Purchase. These define the contractual relationship and provide for elements to oversee environmental and social issues, such as compliance with current regulations and specific requirements established by Technogym.

In addition, all suppliers are required to adhere to REACH and RoHS regulations, which ensure a higher level of protection of people's health and the environment by limiting the use of chemicals throughout the production process.

Monitoring supplier relationships

Technogym monitors supplier performance through a Vendor Rating portal. Data relates to the companies themselves and to criteria such as delivery times and quality and is kept constantly up to date.

monitaring

This data allows the system to make a summary assessment with respect to each individual supplier. Suppliers themselves have access to the portal and can view feedback on the quality of the products or services they offer.

Additional periodic on-site audits aim to:

  • monitor supplier operations;
  • verify the continued validity of specific requirements necessary for the performance of activities;
  • report on any deviations/potential deviations from the provisions of current environmental and social standards and any other specific requirements;
  • define corrective actions to avoid recurrence of any identified deviations/potential deviations;
  • track all activities relating to the supplier performance monitoring process.

In addition, information is also collected on, among others, social aspects, healthiness of the working environment, freedom of association and management of environmental aspects (although the location of most suppliers in Europe ensures compliance with stringent standards in this regard).

Finally, the Group verifies the management systems adopted by suppliers, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949 (formerly ISO/TS 16949), and SA 8000; these are an important element in supplier evaluation.
