Energy-saving initiatives and projects

The company’s commitment to energy efficiency and the optimisation of energy quality led to the decision to install a power quality improvement system in Italy in September 2021. The installation of the E-Power system, a hybrid passive inductive filter, made it possible to maximise the efficiency of the plant, reducing losses and disturbances. In 2022, thanks to this system, overall efficiency of 126,899 kWh was achieved, corresponding to 57.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent saved.

Important initiatives in recent years include transferring the warehouse for finished products manufactured at the Slovak site from Portobuffolè (Treviso) to Malý Krtíš. This operation made it possible to improve and streamline logistics with positive effects on transport and distribution management. In particular, it was possible to eliminate the transport by articulated lorry of some 60,000 finished products manufactured in Slovakia to the Italian warehouse at Treviso, around 700km away, with an average 3,000 journeys avoided, for a total of 2,100,000km and approximately 700,000 litres of diesel/fuel saved, equal to 1,820.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide generated.

Decarbonisation is a key project for the coming years. Various initiatives – from the installation of solar panels at Technogym HQ and subsidiaries, to the procurement of more certified green energy – are planned or underway.

Direct and indirect energy usage

Overall, Technogym S.p.A.'s energy intensity has remained constant over the three years
(6.79 in 2023). The Slovakian plant recorded a decrease in energy consumption against an
increase in hours worked, obtaining an energy intensity of 26.33. This figure is the ratio
between the overall energy consumption, equal to approximately 10.3 million kWh for
Technogym S.p.A. and 12.5 million kWh for Technogym EE, and the hours worked. During
2023, the Slovakian plant recorded a continuous recovery in production compared with
2021, posting an increase of around 26%.
